He entered the Telugu cinema as a Sound recordist. later was asst. director to great director Adurthi Subba Rao for the films Iddaru mithrulu, Mooga manasulu and Dr.Chakravarthi. He started his career as director with the film Athma Gauravam, a ANR, Rajasri starer. He became popular with the film Sarada in which Sobhan babu and Sarada lived in their roles. Then proved as a best creative director with the film O Seetha Katha. Film Jeevana Jyothi can be termed as his best film as director. Then came the film Siri Siri Muvva with Chandra Mohan, Jaya Prada and Sathyanarayana. later on he has experimented with success the film Siri Vennela. Lyricist Seetha Rama Sastry was introduced through this film. Then Swathi Muthyam, Sankarabharanam and Sagara Sangamam proved him as a great creative director.
He has also acted in many films as a character actor.
