Performance & Technical Aspects:
The film features a strong premise, particularly the lead
character's profession as an obituary ad executive, which is fresh and
engaging. While the lead performance is steady, it occasionally lacks the high
intensity required for such a gripping thriller and unnecessary scene for lead
elevation disturbs the flow. On the technical side, the cinematography and
Background Music (BGM) are noteworthy, effectively building the suspenseful
atmosphere needed for a crime drama.
Direction & Screenplay:
The director does a commendable job of establishing the
"pattern-killing" concept and the investigative process. However, the
film struggles slightly with its commercial elevations. Certain scenes, such as
the protagonist's interactions in the graveyard and some logic-defying moments
in police vehicles, feel unnecessary and slow down the pace of the narrative.
Final Verdict:
Mruthyunjay is a sincere and decent attempt at a crime
thriller. While it has a few flaws in its commercial execution and some
slow-moving sequences, the core plot and the unique investigative angle make it
an interesting watch. It is a ok effort that serves as a one-time watch for
fans of the suspense genre.
Rating: A ok thriller that balances a unique concept with traditional crime elements.
