100 Years Of Indian Cinema

The Indian cinema is celebrating the 100 year completion. Telugu cinema is completing 82 years of its first release of Bhaktha Prahlada (1931). As part of celebrations of Indian Cinema, remembers and recollects the information of The Greats of Early Telugu Cinema.  is presenting the profile of the great producer B Nagi Reddy

B Nagi Reddy  born 0n 2nd December1912 at Pottimpadu Village in Cuddapah district of A P.He was a great producer of Telugu films along with Chakrapani. Nagi Reddy-Chakrapani Pair were very popular in Telugu Cinema.Nagi Reddy floated Vijaya Pictures and produced many masterpieces in Telugu.

He is the proud owner of Vijaya Studios, Later named as Vijaya Vahini Studios.

Nagireedy has established his own publishing company at Vadapalini (Chennai) and published children monthly magazine Chandamama with Chakrapani as Editor.First Chandamama came in Telugu, Later on in many Indian languages.
Nagi Reddy was responsible for publishing Telugu monthly cine magazine Vijayachitra with his son Viswantha Reddy as editor.

He is the brain behind the establishment of Vijaya Vahini Studios at Vadapalani, Chennai.
Now the studios has been purchased or taken on lease by Hyderabad based Diana Hotels Ltd., who have constructed Hotel Green Park in Part of the premises.

Awards and Honors for B Nagi Reddy:-

Dadasaheb Palke Award: – B Nagireddy was honored with Dada Saheb Palke award in the year 1986 for his services to Telugu/Indian Cinema as a Producer and Studio Owner.

Raghupathi Venkaiah award: – This Prestigious award by state govt. for the year 1987 for his services to Telugu cinema
